Samsung is pushing deeper into the more affordable laptop market with a new model aimed at everyday users, students and people who want a lightweight machine for work and entertainment. The company has introduced the 14-inch Galaxy Book6, starting at $799, with one headline claim that immediately stands out: up to 25 hours of battery life.

The new model expands the Galaxy Book6 family and brings some of Samsung’s connected Galaxy features to a lower price point than the Pro and Ultra models. Samsung positions it as an everyday Windows laptop for web browsing, documents, video calls, multitasking and streaming.

A cheaper Galaxy Book6

The new Galaxy Book6 starts at $799 in the US, putting Samsung directly into one of the most competitive parts of the laptop market.

Samsung says the goal is to make the Galaxy Book experience available to more people while maintaining the connection between the laptop and other Galaxy devices. Pricing and configurations can vary by market.

A lightweight 14-inch design

The Galaxy Book6 features a 14-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving it a productivity-focused format rather than the premium AMOLED panels found higher up in the Galaxy Book lineup.

The laptop measures just 15.7mm thick and weighs approximately 1.35kg, making it easy to carry between home, school, the office and travel.

Up to 25 hours of battery life

Battery life is clearly one of Samsung’s biggest selling points. The company claims the Galaxy Book6 can deliver up to 25 hours of video playback on a single charge.

That figure is based on Samsung’s own testing, however, rather than independent real-world testing. Browsing, video calls, productivity applications and heavier workloads can all reduce battery life considerably.

When it does need a recharge, the laptop supports 45W fast charging, with Samsung claiming that it can restore roughly 33% of the battery in 30 minutes.

Intel Core processors and Galaxy AI

Depending on the market and configuration, the Galaxy Book6 is available with Intel Core Series 3 and Core 5 processors. Memory goes up to 16GB LPDDR5X, while storage can reach 1TB SSD. Entry configurations can start with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Samsung is also tying the laptop into its Galaxy AI ecosystem. The idea is to make the Galaxy Book6 more than just another Windows notebook by allowing it to work alongside Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Features such as Multi Control, Second Screen, Quick Share and Link to Windows allow users to move content between devices, control supported Galaxy products and, in some cases, use a Galaxy tablet as a second display.

Samsung keeps the ports

Samsung has not gone all-in on an ultra-minimal port selection. The Galaxy Book6 includes two USB-C ports, USB-A, HDMI 1.4 and a 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack.

It also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, while the built-in webcam is 1080p. For buyers who still want to connect accessories without carrying a collection of adapters, that could be a meaningful advantage.

A direct fight for MacBook Neo buyers

The Galaxy Book6 enters a segment where Apple’s MacBook Neo has become one of the key reference points. Samsung is not simply trying to compete on price. Instead, it is offering a different combination of features: Windows, a 14-inch display, a broader port selection and deeper integration with Galaxy smartphones.

That makes the $799 starting price particularly interesting. Buyers looking for a laptop for school, university or everyday work now have another major brand to consider.

The Galaxy Book6 is not, however, designed to replace a workstation. Its integrated graphics and mainstream processors are aimed primarily at everyday workloads rather than demanding gaming or professional video production.

Availability

Galaxy Book6 is available in select markets, with additional markets to follow. Starting at $799, it offers 8GB or 16GB of memory and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSD storage options. Availability, specifications, colors, features, and supported experiences may vary by region.

The battery claim could be the deciding factor

Ultimately, the Galaxy Book6 is Samsung’s bet on a simple idea: most people do not need an extremely powerful laptop. They want something light, portable, long-lasting and well connected to the devices they already use.

If the 25-hour battery claim comes reasonably close to real-world use and the performance is strong enough for everyday workloads, the Galaxy Book6 could become one of Samsung’s more compelling laptops below $1,000.

For now, however, real-world battery testing and the performance-to-price ratio will determine whether the Galaxy Book6 is simply another mid-range Windows laptop or a serious competitor in this increasingly crowded segment.
