Newly released data from messaging app Telegram reveals a sharp rise in the number of data demands it fulfilled over the past year for users’ data from requesting law enforcement agencies. The rise in fulfilled user requests comes months after French authorities arrested Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in August in part for the company’s longstanding refusal to provide user data in response to a child exploitation investigation. Soon after Durov’s arrest, Telegram appeared to relax its policy on how it handles abuse reports. Telegram’s latest transparency data — requestable only with a Telegram account and limited to the region where the…
Honda is adding to its so-called 0 Series of EVs with a new SUV it just revealed at CES 2025. The company showed off a mid-size SUV prototype dubbed, surely enough, the 0 SUV, which will join the 0 Saloon that Honda showed off at last year’s show. A production version of the SUV will debut first in North America in the first half in 2026, and it will be built at Honda’s “EV Hub” factory in Ohio. The 0 SUV will then go to other markets around the world. Honda will start building the 0 Saloon at the same…
The U.S. government announced Tuesday that its long-awaited cybersecurity labeling program for consumer internet-connected devices will launch in 2025. The Biden administration first introduced the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark in June 2023, saying the voluntary labeling program would “raise the bar” for internet-connected devices by enabling Americans to make informed decisions about the security of the devices they buy. While the initiative was initially slated to launch in late 2024, the White House confirmed that the program will now be “open for business” this year. No exact launch date was given, but the announcement states that companies will “soon” be…
BMW pioneered modern automotive infotainment systems with its original iDrive of the early 2000s. But for its next-generation EVs, the automaker is rethinking everything. Revealed at CES 2025, BMW Panoramic iDrive will be the default hardware and software setup for new models starting at the end of this year — including the Neue Klasse (German for “new class”) EVs that represent a similar clean-sheet approach in other areas, from batteries to exterior styling. This latest version of iDrive adopts a thin display surface at the base of the windshield, spanning the entire dashboard. This setup, which is similar to what…
Satechi has just introduced a fresh portfolio of charging gear at CES 2025 that taps into the next-gen Qi2 wireless charging standard. The first addition to the lineup is the OntheGo power bank, which comes in 10,000 mAh and 5,000 mAh variants. These power banks offer up to 15-watt charging output and embrace an improved heat dissipation design. They natively support iPhones with MagSafe hardware, but will also play just fine with Qi2-ready Android phones or devices protected with a magnetic case. A cool perk of the new OntheGo series is support for passthrough charging, which means they can supply juice…
Nomad’s back with another glow-in-the-dark Apple Watch band, and just as with previous versions, it’s a limited edition, so if you want one, you’d better be quick. Why? They’ve proven so popular in the past that they’ve quickly sold out. The latest model is cooler than the last two versions and that’s meant in the most real sense of the word, as it’s called the Glow in the Dark Icy Blue Sport Band. During the day, Nomad’s sport band takes on a pale blue, almost white shade, but when the lights go down, it transforms into a chilled, yet striking…
Royal Enfield will introduce the Flying Flea electric motorcycle brand at CES 2025. Flying Flea also announced partnerships with Qualcomm and NDX to incorporate innovative technology in its motorcycles. The Flying Flea brand is inspired by the lightweight motorcycles Royal Enfield developed during World War II to drop with parachutes from airplanes and to be used for battlefield communications. Those bikes were called Flying Fleas. Why Flying Flea is a brand and not a model line Royal Enfield is one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers, and it has been continuously producing since 1901. Originally a British firm, Royal Enfield is…
Beyond the gaming focus, it could also serve as a fantastic Android alternative to the iPad mini. At the heart of the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which should ensure smooth and responsive performance for most gaming applications. That’s the same chip found in Samsung’s Galaxy S24 lineup, which includes the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The tablet supports ray tracing technology, allowing developers to create visually stunning game environments with realistic lighting and shadows to enhance the gaming experience. The device comes equipped with an 8.8-inch 2.5K…
It’s speedy, reasonably priced, and it has a fantastic keyboard — just read our Lenovo Legion Pro 7i review. So, you can imagine my surprise when Lenovo told me that it was completely throwing out its winning formula to fully redesign the laptop for CES 2025. It looks like the redesign could pay off, though. With the laptop open, not much has changed. You’re still getting Lenovo’s excellent TrueStrike, as well as a slim number pad and trackpad that’s offset to the left of the key deck. This updated model features an OLED display, however. Previous Legion laptops have had…
