OpenAI is making ChatGPT sound like Santa for the holidays. The startup announced on Thursday that ChatGPT users could access a new “Santa Mode” voice for the month of December. The feature allows users to speak with ChatGPT’s existing real-time voice feature, Advanced Voice Mode, but with a Christmas twist. The voice sounds, well, “merry and bright,” as OpenAI described it. Think boomy, jolly — more or less like every Santa you’ve ever heard. OpenAI is releasing the feature just ahead of the 2024 holiday season, a time when many families with young children will be cooped up in the…

Allowing users to connect over shared passions and hobbies. This new feature aims to enhance user engagement by providing a space for like-minded individuals to share content, participate in discussions, and discover new interests. A year after initial tests began, the web blogging site Tumblr, now owned by WordPress.com parent Automattic, is launching its Communities feature out of beta. Communities offer semi-private spaces on Tumblr where people can network around topics of interest, similar to Reddit’s forums known as subreddits or X’s Communities. The Communities feature first entered public beta this spring, offering Tumblr users dedicated feeds that are separate…
OpenAI’s “12 Days of OpenAI” continued apace on Wednesday with the development team announcing a new seasonal voice for ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode (AVM), as well as new video and screen-sharing capabilities for the conversational AI feature. Santa Mode, as OpenAI is calling it, is a seasonal feature for AVM and offers St. Nick’s dulcet tones as a preset voice option. It is being released to Plus and Pro subscribers through the website and mobile and desktop apps starting today and will remain so until early January. To access the limited-time feature, first sign in to your Plus or Pro…
Apple iPhone users in two additional locations in the U.S. can now access digital driver’s licenses and state IDs through the Apple Wallet app. New Mexico and Puerto Rico residents can take advantage of this service, bringing the total number of supported locations to 10. Two more states are expected to offer this feature in the near future. Apple first announced digital IDs for the Apple Wallet in 2021. However, the adoption of this feature by U.S. states and territories has been slow. Before the approvals in New Mexico and Puerto Rico, digital IDs were accepted in Iowa, California, Ohio,…
Just over a month ago, Apple introduced a new feature called “Share Item Location” that would allow users to securely share the location of their lost or misplaced Find My-ready device (or luggage with AirTag attached) with their airline service provider, in order to recover it. The feature is now live, with United emerging as the first partner to adopt it. In a press release, United mentioned that the ability to share details of lost items from the Find My network had been added to its official mobile app. The feature went live following the rollout of iOS 18.2, which…
This week, Apple released iOS 18.2. Though the update is mostly being advertised for its new Apple Intelligence features, it also includes another feature long promised for certain U.S. iPhone users. With the iOS 18.2 update, Boost Mobile customers using iPhones can now use RCS (Rich Communication Services) as an alternative to SMS and MMS. A Reddit user (via Android Authority) was the first to discover the change. Apple teased RCS support last year before making an official announcement at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. RCS is being recognized as the next generation of text messaging that enhances…
Recently, I shared a deal and some news that Amazon Music Unlimited not only comes with Audible included now, but also you can get started for free. That’s right; you can try the premium version of the service for three months for free. Normally it would cost you $11 per month, or $10 if you have Amazon Prime. That works out to about $30 for three months. For a limited time, you pay nada. Zilch. Fugazi. While many prefer one of the other audio streaming services, my favorite is Amazon Music Unlimited. It’s not just because I’m an Amazon Prime…
Huawei has launched a new folding phone, the Mate X6, and it looks great, but alongside it has come a “normal” phone called the Nova 13 that’s actually more interesting. What could possibly be more interesting than a foldable? I’ll explain, but let’s start with the Mate X6, which still has some surprises inside. Huawei Mate X6 Huawei produces two different types of folding phone (three if you count the trifold Mate XT), and the Mate X6 is the latest in its book-style range, putting it in competition with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, the OnePlus Open, and the…
If you want your next laptop to have a relatively big screen, you should check out Best Buy’s offer for the LG Gram 17. From its original price of $1,800, it’s down to a more reasonable $1,100 following a $700 discount. There’s no telling how much time remains before this bargain ends though, so if you want to get this device for a much lower price than usual, you’re going to have to hurry with your purchase. As with most laptop deals, any delay may cause you to miss out on the savings. Why you should buy the LG Gram…
The iPhone 17 has been the subject of quite a few leaks so far, but we might have just gotten our first look at its redesign. Spoiler alert: it’s a big one. If this design is accurate, then Apple has completely shifted the way it positions cameras on the back of devices by opting for a horizontal side-by-side placement that makes the iPhone 17 look a lot like a Pixel device. The suggested appearance was first leaked on Weibo, then noticed and shared on X by known tipster Jukanlosreve. The post shows what looks to be a frame, said to…
