There has been a stir on Reddit and X recently, as it appears PlayStation is giving away games—albeit without any official announcement.

Specifically, visiting the PS Store reveals that Take-Two Interactive’s Mafia 3 is completely free, whereas it normally costs €29.99. Furthermore, all of the game’s DLC is also free.
At the same time, Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII is also free on PlayStation 4 (which, as a reminder, is fully playable on PS5). Both games are free , and no PlayStation Plus subscription is required.

For now, it is unclear whether this is a PlayStation Store error or a “gift” from the respective companies and Sony. However, these free offers appear to be available only in Europe, not in the Americas.
But the surprise doesn’t end there. Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII has also become available for free to PlayStation 4 users. The game can also be played on PS5 via backward compatibility.
No PlayStation Plus required
One of the most interesting details is that, according to reports, a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to claim these games. Both titles are reportedly free in the Greek market as well.
However, it remains unclear whether this is a PlayStation Store error, a temporary promotion, or a planned offer that Sony and the respective companies have not yet officially announced.
The offer appears to be limited to Europe
So far, reports suggest that the games are appearing for free in several European markets, whereas users in the US do not seem to be benefiting from the same offer.
If you see the games listed as free on the PlayStation Store, it is worth adding them to your library as soon as possible, as it is unknown how long the €0 price point will remain active.
Mafia 3 and Call of Duty: WWII are currently two of the most interesting titles appearing for free on the PlayStation Store, and it remains to be seen whether Sony will provide an official explanation for this situation.
Note: Availability and pricing may vary by region, and this could be a temporary PlayStation Store error.
