Meta will no longer have any fact-checkers in the U.S. come Monday, according to Chief Global Affairs Officer Joel Kaplan. Meta announced this significant policy change in January when it also loosened its content moderation rules. The timing of this change coincided with President Trump’s inauguration, which Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg attended after donating $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund. Around the same time, Zuckerberg added Dana White, a longtime Trump ally and CEO of UFC, to Meta’s board. “The recent elections also feel like a cultural tipping point towards once again prioritizing speech,” Zuckerberg said in a…

The Trump administration has fired Timothy Haugh, the head of the National Security Agency and Cyber Command, several news publications reported overnight into Friday. Haugh, a career military official, led the National Security Agency, the U.S.’ main wiretapping and intelligence gathering agency, for little more than a year after his appointment in February 2024 following his predecessor’s retirement. Haugh also oversaw Cyber Command, a military unit that conducts offensive cyber operations against U.S. adversaries. The Washington Post, which first reported the news, and The New York Times, said the firings come after right-wing activist Laura Loomer advocated for Haugh’s firing…
In February, the Trump administration’s first full month, Teslas made up 1.2% of vehicles traded in. March’s trade-ins so far would be the highest monthly share Edmunds has on record of Tesla trade-ins toward new or used purchases at dealerships, if the trend continues. This excludes trade-ins toward new purchases of Teslas and EVs from other direct-to-consumer brands. Musk is leading the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency and activists across the U.S. have staged so-called Tesla Takedown demonstrations over his role in cuts to the federal workforce and cancellation of contracts that fund global humanitarian programs. Social media has…

Almost four years ago, Apple Music started supporting Dolby Atmos, but this feature wasn’t available for subscribers on Windows until now. A recent Apple support document via MacRumors confirms that this limitation has been resolved. Dolby Atmos is an audio technology that enhances sound experience by creating three-dimensional soundscapes. Unlike traditional audio systems that use fixed channels or speakers, Dolby Atmos utilizes an object-based audio approach. This treats sound as individual “objects” that can be positioned anywhere in a three-dimensional space, including above the listener. This allows sound engineers and content creators to place audio elements strategically, resulting in a more realistic listening experience.…
Microsoft is teaching its AI-powered Copilot chatbot a few new tricks. Copilot can now take action on “most websites,” Microsoft says, enabling it to book tickets, reserve restaurants, and more. The bot has gained the ability to remember specific things about you, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, like your favorite food and films. And it can now analyze real-time video from your phone, answering questions in the context of what it “sees.” The upgrades come as Microsoft is reportedly mulling a revamp of Copilot, which has historically been powered by AI models from OpenAI, with more of its own in-house technology.…

It seems tablets are increasingly becoming the unofficial launch testbed for Apple’s next-gen silicon. The 2024 iPad Pro marked the debut of Apple’s M4 chip, ahead of its appearance inside the Mac hardware.
