Privacy-focused productivity tool company Proton released a new authenticator app today, allowing users to log in to services using dynamically generated two-factor codes. The free app is available on all platforms starting today, including iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux. The app allows you to sync codes and accounts across devices. The company said that just like its other products, Proton Authenticator is open-sourced and uses end-to-end encryption to protect user data. Aurora, which launched its driverless commercial self-driving truck service this spring, has already made some progress toward that goal. The company reported Wednesday in its second-quarter letter to shareholders that it now has three self-driving trucks operating commercially between Dallas and Houston, and logged more than 20,000 driverless miles by the end of June. When longtime supervisor Robert Markert warned SpaceX leaders that one part of the rocket fairing recovery process could “easily cause serious injury or death,” he alleges he was ignored because “it was the more economical solution,” according to a recently filed lawsuit. A few months later, he was out of the job. Hackers are targeting a previously reported bug in the Signal clone app TeleMessage in an effort to steal users’ private data, according to security researchers and a U.S. government agency. TeleMessage, which earlier this year was revealed to be used by high-ranking officials in the Trump administration, already experienced at least one data breach in May. Rivian will resume prep work on its planned Georgia factory in August and is still looking to break ground early next year, according to emails The Tech Spot obtained through a public records request. The restarted effort comes months after the Biden administration’s Department of Energy approved a $6.6 billion loan meant to fund construction.
