Rather, Samsung’s strategy seems to be based not on technological leaps and cutting-edge technology, but on cost management and increasing profit margins. However, with the memory crisis, Samsung is finding it difficult to keep its profits high and this seems to lead Samsung to look for screens from other manufacturers, for the Galaxy S27.

Samsung Mobile used to supply screens from Samsung Display all these years, but according to SigmaIntel, this has started to change. Samsung Mobile tries to negotiate lower prices than Samsung Display, but this would reduce the profitability of the latter.

Samsung already has an agreement with the BOE for the supply of screens to the Galaxy A57 and apparently is discussing its cooperation with the BOE for the upcoming Galaxy S27.

Of course, BOE is a company that produces excellent screens, for many flagships, including some Apple devices, but also of course for most Chinese companies. It may be that Samsung and LG are the companies that make the best screens in the public’s mind, but in the year 2026, both BOE and TCL (CSOT) have created some amazing panels.

But here comes a big πισωγύρισμα, at least according to the information so far. The regular Galaxy S26 already uses M13 panels, which is a generation behind the M14 we have in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. With Samsung cutting back, the Galaxy S27 will continue to use M13 screens, but this time made by BOE. BOE can also manufacture the M14, but these are more expensive and Samsung is trying to reduce its costs as much as possible.

But Samsung is not the only one trying to reduce its costs. Apple does exactly the same and a part of the production of iPhone 18 screens will also be transferred to BOE.

This year, Samsung has kept the same prices as last year for the Galaxy S26, but this is only for the basic version with 256GB of storage space. Versions with more storage saw a price increase. Personally, if Samsung is to keep prices stable once again, I would have no problem contacting the BOE for its phone screens. BOE still makes amazing screens that are fully competitive with Samsung’s and in some cases even better.
