New indications and leaks suggest that Valve is preparing to finally announce the long-awaited Half-Life 3 sometime in 2025.
After more than 20 years of waiting, rumors about the development of Half-Life 3 seem to be gaining a firmer footing. According to recent leaks and reports, Valve is actively working on the project codenamed “HLX”, which is believed to be the next chapter of the iconic series.
As USGamer reports, Mike Shapiro, the voice of the character G-Man, posted a message on New Year’s Eve 2024, his first after four years of silence. In the message, in his characteristic G-Man voice, he referred to “unexpected surprises” for the next 25 years.
Well-known Valve watcher Tyler McVicker revealed through analysis of the Source 2 code that “HLX” is a complete Half-Life game without VR support. According to his findings, the game will feature innovative physics systems, including voxel warping systems, zero-gravity navigation, and underwater exploration.
In addition, YouTuber “Gabe Follower”, known for his reliable leaks about Valve, reported that the company has begun intensive testing of “HLX” in recent months, including not only members of other teams but also friends and relatives of employees.
It’s worth noting that Mike Shapiro had reported in 2020 to USGamer that he was working on a mysterious project that would change players’ understanding of the game’s history. This statement takes on particular weight in light of recent developments.
Meanwhile, leaks about Valve’s mysterious “Project White Sands” appearing in public recruitment ads further fuel suspicions about Half-Life 3’s impending announcement sometime in 2025
