A service known for offering cheats for Grand Theft Auto V has been the target of a cyberattack, exposing the personal data of thousands of users.
According to security reports, a platform called Atlas Menu has been compromised, leading to the publication of a database of around 64,000 user accounts.
What happened in the attack?
The hacker claims to have managed to take control of the service’s internal systems and then published the data on public platforms such as GitHub.
The exposed data includes:
usernames
email addresses
customer account information
data related to activity on the platform
Atlas Menu, a cheat service for popular online video game Grand Theft Auto V, has been hacked, according to data breach notification website Have I Been Pwned.
The stolen data included users’ email addresses, usernames, scrambled passwords, IP addresses, and support tickets, according to Have I Been Pwned, which said almost 64,000 accounts were part of the breach.
Ironically, Atlas Menu claimed to offer “secure authentication and enhanced privacy through our advanced encryption techniques,” according to its official site, which is down at the time of writing.
The hacker who claimed responsibility for the breach posted the allegedly stolen data on GitHub. The hacker’s motivation appeared to be revenge against a scammer.

What is Atlas Menu?
Atlas Menu is a service that provides modified software for Grand Theft Auto V, allowing players to use cheats in the game.
These types of services often operate in a legal gray area and are known for:
unfairly modifying the game
using online servers
violating the game’s terms of service
Atlas Menu, according to a video posted on its website, for example offered features such as “invisibility;” “super jump,” which allowed the player to jump higher than normal; and the ability to fly through the map.
The impact of the breach appears to expose users who signed up to Atlas Menu to cheat on the game. Game cheats have evolved into a multi-million dollar business, as professional gamers seek an advantage over their competitors.
Atlas Menu is not the first cheat service to get hacked. A popular cheat service for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was reportedly breached a few years ago.
The attack on the GTA V cheat service once again shows the dangers of using unofficial platforms in gaming. In addition to violating the rules of the game, these services often expose users to serious cybersecurity risks.
