Microsoft reveals $80 billion in AI data center investment by 2025, most of it headed to the US.

Microsoft has announced an ambitious investment plan for the development of artificial intelligence, revealing that it will allocate a total of $80 billion for AI-enabled data centers by 2025. According to the company, more than half of the budget will go towards building facilities in the United States States.

In a wide-ranging announcement about its vision for the development of artificial intelligence during the incoming Trump administration, Microsoft emphasizes that the data centers will be used to train and develop AI models, as well as to support its cloud applications company. The company underlines that the progress achieved to date in the field of IT would not have been possible “without new partnerships based on large-scale infrastructure investments”.

In this context, Microsoft is calling on the new administration to expand its support for the promotion of AI within the US, including increased funding for the National Science Foundation and US universities. At the same time, Microsoft admits that IT will “disrupt the economy and displace some jobs”, but expresses the belief that the new opportunities that will be created will outweigh the challenges.

The company emphasizes that the key lies in educating Americans so that they can use AI as a tool at work, similar to the use of smartphones and laptops today. Finally, Microsoft points out that the third critical priority for 2025 is to promote US IT exports.

The company warns of competition between the US and China to spread their technologies to other countries, stressing that victory will belong to whoever moves first and fastest.
